Denise attended South River schools and graduated from South River High School in 1972. She was a member of the B-Naturals Select Singing Group, mixed chorus, intramural basketball and was voted Homecoming Queen and Most Friendly her senior year. She received a Bachelors of Science degree in Communications in 1976 from Seton Hall University, in West Orange NJ.
A former member of Union Baptist Church, South River NJ, Denise was baptized at the age of 9 while at Union Baptist Church. In November of 1986, Denise continued her Christian service at the Greater Cornerstone Baptist Church, Dallas TX under the leadership of Rev David E. Wilson.
Denise was predeceased by her father, Samuel Pearson Sr. in 1980; brother, Carey "Moose" Pearson in 1984; brother, Samuel Pearson Jr. in 2000; sister, Deborah Pearson in 2002.
Denise was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2000. Throughout her battle Denise stood fast and held her own - always maintaining her confidence, independence, and dignity - all without complaining. Her son, Carlton "Tre" Stewart, IV is the jo of her life, her proudest accomplishment and greatest love.
