C. Wayne Carter Sr., 74, of Chase City passed away November 1, 2015. He was owner of A & A Service Center and co-owner of C and E Mini Storage, a member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church and also a choir member, a member of Chase City Ruritan Club, and a member of Chase City Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years having served as Chief and numerous other positions, former president of Mecklenburg County Fire Chiefs Association, executive board member of State Fire Chiefs of Virginia, past president of Southside Virginia Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, former board member of Mecklenburg YMCA and a member of Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Carolyn Carter, son, C. W. Carter, Jr., brother, J. Hershel Carter and wife, Jean, sisters Shirley Andrews and husband, Fred, Norma Hamlett and husband, William, granddaughters, Chelle Dunn and husband, Brad, Elizabeth Carter and Roque Ramirez, great grandchildren, Marcie Ramirez and Javier Ramirez, sister-in-law, Audrey Carter, numerous nieces and nephews and faithful caregiver, Mildred Pugh.
