Melvin died in Alma Nelson Manor. He was born in Albert Lea, MInn., son of Melvin A. and Evelyn Olson Hollerud Sr. Melvin worked as a forklift driver at Chrysler Corp. for 29 years, retiring in 1994.

Survivors include mother, Evelyn Livingston; daughter, Lori Zimmerman; three grandchildren; wife, Carol Hollerud; brothers, Eugene (Pam) Surmo and Terry (Lana) Surmo. Predeceased by his father; and brother, Vincent Surmo Jr.
