Calvin Edward Douglas, 81, died in Heppner, Ore., on Oct. 28, 2015.

Calvin was born on April 27, 1934, in Kalispell, Mont., to Herman and Anna Sexton Douglas. He was the first of six children.

When he was 16, the family moved to Malin, Ore., and he finished high school with the Henley High School Class of 1953.

On October 17, 1953, he married Edith Strunk in Klamath Falls, Ore.

He then began a career in the floor covering industry, working for Calhoun's Floor covering. In the late 1960s, he became the co-owner of Clinton & Douglas Floor covering and then on his own in 1976 with C & H Rug Hut. In 1993, he closed the business and worked independently. He continued to work and stay active in the industry until 2013.

Calvin was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge, the Happy Huggers and he attended the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, especially deer and elk, fishing Deadhorse and Campbell Lakes and playing pool. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his wife and his family.

Calvin is survived by his wife, son and daughter-in-law, daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, brother, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Keith; brother, Herman; and two sisters Louise & Joan.
