David Todd Shackelford, 46, passed away on his birthday, Wednesday October 28, 2015 at his home. He was born in Newport News, Va. and was a mixer-driver for Rappahannock Concrete and was a member of Newington Baptist Church. He was a professional musician and was the lead guitar player of the Crazy X Band, The Shades of Country, and also for the Mullins Sisters. He was a loving father and husband. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Garrett Shackelford. He is survived by his wife Betty M. Shackelford, his children Garrett, David, Dustin, and Krystal, his mother Mildred Scott Shackelford, brother Edward Scott Shackelford, and his grandsons Caiden and Austin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home by Rev. Michael Gray and Rev. Don Forrest. Burial will be in Newington Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, PO Box 1417, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
