Carolyn died peacefully in her Seguin TX home. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Tim Schmidt; children Robert Appling of Corpus Christi TX, Angelia Appling, also of Corpus Christi TX, Christopher Schmidt of Dallas TX, and Nicki Ryan of Allen TX; siblings Ed Grimm of Sinton TX, and Kate Burell of Manor TX. Carolyn was also blessed with ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by son, Stephen Appling; parents, Joseph and Agnes Grimm of Canyon Lake TX; and brother Bill Grimm of Matagorda TX. Carolyn was born in Mercedes TX. She was the youngest of her siblings. She graduated from Alice High School in 1961 and was an ardent baton twirler. By her mid-twenties, she was blessed with her three children. Carolyn always had a passion for traveling, and she was able to live that aspiration when she met the love of her life, Tim. Together they traveled across the United States, visiting all but Alaska and Hawaii. Through all of her adventures, Carolyn came to love Seguin, and later made it her permanent home. She was an avid member of the Episcopal Church and donated much of her time making people happy. A memorial was held December 12, 2015 at St Andrew's Episcopal Church in Seguin TX with Father Kevin Dellaria officiating.
