Visitation was from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial was at noon Tuesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Noah Pierre Matherne Jr. and wife, Denise, of Grand Caillou; daughters, Mary Jane Prosperie, of Bourg, Mary Ann Moreau, of Venice, Annie Bourg and husband, Donald, of Chauvin, Shirley Ann Kibodeaux and husband, Michael, of Houma, and Regina Dupre and husband, Taylor "Paul", of Houma; 20 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Pierre Matherne Sr.; parents, Sidney Carrere Sr. and Pauline Benoit Carrere; son, Joseph Ernest Matherne; daughter, Felicia "Eva" Fields; sons-in-law, Hasley "Tee" Prosperie, Berlin "Black" Moreau Sr. and Henry Fields; grandson, Eugene Fields; and brothers, Sidney Carrere II, John Allen Carrere and Joseph Ernest Carrere.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
