Eddie, 66, of Albion, MI. went to meet his Creator on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Borgess Hospital following a short illness. Eddie was born to Mary (Artripp) and Andy Yates, Jr. in Floyd County, Kentucky.

Eddie served bravely in the United States Army from 1968-1972. He served one tour in Vietnam in 1968 where he served in the 25th Infantry Tropical Lightening Division. He was so proud of his military service and he loved his country.

Eddie worked in the automotive industry where he worked as a regional sales manager for Bear Automotive Corporation. He received many special honors in his career including national salesman of the year in 1993. He retired in 1995 and took on odd jobs in the landscaping business after retiring as he liked to stay busy.

Eddie was an avid fisherman and his true passion was cooking. His family truly enjoyed his creations in the kitchen. He loved growing his own vegetables and was especially talented at making hot sauces and salsa. His Louisiana gumbo was second to none.

Eddie was a family man. He married the love of his life on September 6, 1969 in Marshall, Michigan and they just recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.

They had one daughter in 1973. He especially loved his two grandchildren and he said being a father and grandpa were to the two most important accomplishments in his life. He loved being being "Papa" to those two.

Eddie is survived by his wife Peggie of 46 years, his daughter, Barbara (Ben) Snyder of Albion, Michigan. His mother, Mary Yates, sister Zada (Dave) Seiter, brothers Larry (Ann) Yates, all of Albion, Michigan. Brothers Dwayne (Kim) Yates of North Adams, Michigan and Kenneth (Barbara) Yates of Sulpher, Louisiana and his two beautiful grandchildren, Harper Snyder (9) and Holden Snyder (2). He also had several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life was held Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at St. James Episcopal Church in Albion, Michigan. Full military honors and interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery followed.
