Phyllis Jean (Evenson) Voges, age 78, of Bricelyn, MN died Friday, October 30, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 10:30 AM at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church in Brush Creek Township, with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 3 from 4 – 7 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn, and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at North Blue Earth Cemetery.

Phyllis Jean was born May 25, 1937 on a farm outside of Blue Earth, MN, the daughter of Nelver and Leona (Wiese) Evenson. Early in her childhood her family moved to a farm between Easton and Minnesota Lake, MN. Phyllis attended the local country school, participated in 4-H with her friends and cousins, marched in the high school band and helped out at the house and farm (where she actually brought the cattle in by horseback), until she graduated from Minnesota Lake High School in 1955.

After high school Phyllis began working at Sally's Café in Minnesota Lake, where she met Carl Voges. The two were married on July 5, 1956 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Easton, MN. Phyllis and Carl lived in the Minnesota Lake area for a short time where they began farming with Phyllis' parents. In 1959 they bought a farm near rural Bricelyn where they raised their family, farmed and continued to live since. Phyllis also drove school bus in Bricelyn for many years.

Phyllis was always active. She farmed with Carl, and was always known for baking, especially rolls and breads. She also decorated cakes for weddings, graduations, birthdays and other occasions. Her hobby activities included crocheting, knitting, embroidery, Hardanger, sewing, as well as working with her husband Carl with woodworking crafts for many years. They enjoyed participating in many craft shows over the years, where they continued to meet new people and make new friends.

After "retiring" from the farm and craft shows, Phyllis and Carl continued to keep busy, even designing and finishing Phyllis' new bedroom and kitchen, which she was so proud of.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Carl; children Robert Voges of Fairmont, MN, JeanAnn Eisenhauer (Randy Wilson) of Bricelyn, MN Jane Anderson (Will Culbertson) of Bricelyn, MN, Janice (Russ) Berndt of Good Thunder, MN, John (Dawn) Voges of Angora, MN, and Sara Voges of Bricelyn, MN; grandchildren Jessica Anderson, JoAnna (Dana) Helgeson, Tina (Jason) Kozisek, Jennie Anderson, Jamie (Jason) Shure, Tara (Ryan) Nelson, Katie (Sky) Wigen, Cody Berndt, Brandon Berndt, Jeremiah Voges, and Lilly Voges; great-grandchildren Taylor, Dylan, Jordyn, August, Caiden, Madisyn, Anastazia, Calvin, Trey, her birthday partner Brynlee, and one on the way; siblings: Marlys (Mark) Segar, Jerry (Janice), and Paul Evenson; sisters-in-law Mary Scofield, Kay (Ambrose) Sonnek, and Audrey Cooper; brother-in-law Lyle Voges; she is also survived by 2 special nephews who lived with the family during their high school years, Howard (Marchella) Voges and David (Jan) Voges, as well as many nieces nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Ronnie and Jim.
