Max E. "Gene" Lynch, age 94, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 31, 2015, at his residence.

Gene was born August 30, 1921, in Bivins, Texas to Benjamin and Oda Lynch. He was retired from the United States Postal Service, served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was a member of the Atlanta Church of Christ where he was a deacon for many years and taught bible classes for approximately fifty years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Lynch Lesman; three brothers, Woodrow Lynch, Victor Lynch, Coy Lynch; and a sister, Maurine Wall.

His first love was his lord and savior followed by his love for his beloved wife of sixty-seven years. His children and grandchildren were a joy to his heart and they all cherished their papaw. He leaves behind an exemplary legacy of living a Godly life. He was a "gentle giant" to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lynch of Atlanta, Texas; two sons, Gary Lynch and wife Laurie of Longview, Texas, Mike Lynch and wife Wanda of Tyler, Texas; son-in-law, Don Lesman of Gilmer, Texas; a sister, Betty Jo Ainsworth and husband Orville of Texarkana, Texas; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 2, 2015, at the Church of Christ, Atlanta, Texas, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Tom Hooten and Jon McCormack officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 6pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral service.

Interment will be in Huffines Cemetery.
