Kelly was born January 11 1947 in American Fork Utah to Verdell and Larena Rose Powell Giles, the second of five children. He spent his childhood growing up in Pleasant Grove.
He graduated from Pleasant Grove High and served in the US Airforce during the Vietnam War where he was Stationed in Guam and Thailand
He married Ellen Dodge and had three sons. He married Sylvia Sherwood and had one daughter.
Kelly attended Norwalk Jr. College and Dixie Applied Technology College where he studied aeronautics and design engineering. He had a long and successful career as an electrical and instrumentation designer. He enjoyed working and traveling in many different areas of the world, most recently he worked in Alaska in the oil and gas industry. He was looking forward to retirement and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother Larena Giles of Pleasant Grove and Lehi, brothers and sisters; Sherlene(Doug)May of Salt Lake City, Connie(Joe)Kenney of Lindon, Larry Giles of Pleasant Grove and Robert(Liz) Giles of American Fork, his children; Brandon Kelly(Tara)Giles of Cedar City, Mathew Brock(Tana)Giles of Lehi, Nathan Thomas(Amanda)Giles of Kaysville, and JaNae Giles of Salt Lake City, 13 grandchildren.
Kelly was preceded in death by his father Verdell(Kelly) Giles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday November 4th, 2015 in the Pleasant Grove 9th ward chapel 400 East 200 South Pleasant Grove, Utah. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery immediately following the services.
