Dies of Illness
John Geyer Cook, aged 45 years, well known pharmacist, died early this morning in his home, 468 Irvin avenue, Rochester, after an extended illness.
Born in Rochester April 22, 1905, Mr. Cook was a life-long resident of the community. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh school of pharmacy and for 18 years was employed as a pharmacist for the P.W. Hetzel drug store in Rochester. Later he conducted a pharmacy of his own in New Brighton and then was employed by the B.V. Wolfe pharmacy there.
Mr. Cook was a founder, first president and charter member of the Rochester Lions club and was a member of the Rochester Methodist church.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Beulah Veiock Cook; three children: John G. Cook, Jr., Nancy Catherine and Mary Constance Cook, all at home; his father, Lindsay D. Cook; his mother, Mrs. Florence Kounts Cook, at home, and one brother, Rev. E. Harvey Cook, St. Paul, Minn.
Friends will be received in the Coleman Funeral Home, Rochester, after 7:00 o'clock this evening. The family requests no flowers be sent.
John's mother was Florence Catharine Konntz Cook, March 23, 1882, Pa to November 22, 1956, Rochester, Beaver Co., Pa. She also is buried in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
