Karleen A Franken Age 67 died Monday, March 29th 2010 in Wausau. She was born April 9, 1942 in Clintonville, WI to the late Dorothy (Buettner) and Rolland Kersten. Karleen graduated from Bowler High School in 1961. She went onto school and graduated in 1963 with a Laboratory Technician Degree. She worked for many years in the Milwaukee area as a Lab Technician and later in Antigo and Wausau, leaving eventually to raise her family. Karleen had many gifts including painting, cooking, gardening and coaching the girls basketball team at Zion Lutheran School. She was an exceptionally gifted pianist and for many years enjoyed playing her favorite hymns, classical music and performed at weddings. She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and it was well known not to call during a game. Her sense of humor was known by all and our birthdays won't be the same without her serenades. She especially enjoyed her Grandchildren, whether spending time with them or making them gifts for the holidays. She was also devoted member and volunteer at Zion Lutheran Church. She had a great faith and believed with her whole heart that she would one day be with her Lord. She will be sadly missed and our family get-togethers won't be the same with out her. Karleen is survived by her Father Rollie, her Daughter Shelly (Scott) Spulak, Schofield, Sons Eric (Rochelle) Franken, and Anthony Franken, all of Wausau. Four Grandchildren, Ashley (Dan) Hofmann, Chloe and Andrew Franken all of Wausau and Aubrey Spulak, Schofield. One Great- Grandchild, Grace Hofmann of Wausau. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 6th St. Wausau. Rev. Steven Gjerde and Rev. Ted Gulhaugen will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
