Opal Jean Morris

Decatur--Opal Jean Morris passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the age of 84. Mrs. Morris is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Andrew J. Morris; daughter, Tarlyn Jeniel Morris; sister, Eula Terry; six brothers, Cecile Pruitt, Guybill, L.U. Dotson, Brown and Billy; and nephew, J.P. Parker. Mrs. Morris was a full time mother and homemaker. She was Vice-President of A.J. Morris Construction and Morris Farms. She was on the board of Courtland Industrial Development for 14 years and worked as an operator with Michigan Bell for four and a half years. Mrs. Morris was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her son, Dallon Morris; daughter, Jan Morris; granddaughter, Andrea Bethany Hutto; great-grandson, Jayden Lecompte; sister, Annie Scruggs; and two brothers, J.W. Parker and Virgil Parker. Special extended family she loved as brothers and sisters, J.P. Parker and Zera Mae Terry. Special extended family she loved as her children and grandchildren, Sandra Oliver and her children, Mark Oliver and Christy Swanner-Kirksey; Barbara Bowling and her children Dan Bowling and Robin Boyles; and Ron Morgan.

A Celebration of Life will be Monday, November 2, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Courtland Baptist Church with Bro. Scotty Letson and Bro. Carl Johnson officiating. A time of gathering with the family will be Monday from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Courtland Baptist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 397 Courtland, AL 35618.
