Tupelo -- Services for Joel Faris Bailey Sr., 68 of Tupelo, who died Tuesady, May 9, 1995, at his residence, were held at 2 p.m. today at Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues in Tupelo.
Burial will be in the Lee Memorial park with the Rev. Mike Warren officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Home, Tupelo, was in charge of arrangements.
A native of Dublin, Mr. Bailey was born Aug. 28, 1926. He lived in Clarksdale most of his life before moving to Tupelo in 1971. He was employed as an Interstate Insurance Co. representative and was an appliance and furniture manager for Otasco while in Clarksdale. In Tupelo he worked for Leland Land Funiture and W.E. Pegues Insurance before retiring in 1978. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Manila in the Philippines during World War II.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Local V.F.W. Post No. 4057, and Monument Drive Baptist Church. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Arthur and Irene Long Bailey, and Three brothers, Wallace Glen Bailey of Clarksdale, Bradie Dee Bailey of Teasdale, and Royace Lavon Bailey of Dublin.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy J. "Dot" Bailey; one daughter, Denise Lesley of Mooreville; two sons, Joel Bailey Jr. and Harvery Lee Bailey, both of Tupelo; one son-in-law, William Lesley of Mooreville; one daughter-in-law, Suzanne Bailey of Tupelo; and two granddaughters, Michelle Bailey and Kim Bailey, both of Tupelo.
Pallbearers were J.D. Moore, Dale Holloway, don West, Larry Lindsey, Buddy Long, Jack Nanney, and Tommy Smith.
