Carl McCall Wildes, Sr., 92, a beloved father and grandfather and the husband of Doris W. "Nonnie" Wildes, died Friday, October 30, 2015, Tidelands Community Hospice House.

Mr. Wildes was born July 26, 1923, in Jackson, Florida, a son of Christopher Columbus Wildes Sr. and Annie Ardelia Thrift Wildes.

He graduated from Andrews High School in 1940 and a retired employee of Sampit Lumber Mill. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the DESA-Destroyer Escort Service Association.

Carl and Doris were married September 11, 1948, and celebrated 67 years together.

He was survived by his wife; two children, Carl McCall "Tony" (Sarah) Wildes, Jr., and June W. (David) Watford; two grandchildren, Tammy (Lee) McClellan and David "Dave" (Adrienne) Watford II; and four great-grandchildren, Carson Watford, Peyton Watford, Owen Watford, and Wyatt McClellan; a sister, Martha Jeneal W. Moree; and two sisters-in-law, Brenda Wildes and Shelby Wildes.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, George Wildes and Alexander Wildes; and a sister, Joan Wildes Tyler.

Funeral services with Military Honors were Sunday, November 1, 2015, in Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Burial, directed by McKenzie Funeral Home, followed in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
