Ruby Mae Burdette, 70, of South Charleston, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at her home. Ruby was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dunbar, and she was a self-employed care giver.

She was born in Charleston on July 17, 1939, and was a daughter of the late Otis W., Sr. and Macel Charlotte Skiles Bowles. Ruby was also preceded in death by her husbands, Ray. T. Drennen and George E. Burdette; a son, Donald P. Drennen; two brothers, Otis W. Bowles, Jr. and Robert L. Bowles; and a sister, Margaret Ann Stover.

She is survived by sons, Ray Thomas Drennen, Jr. of Cross Lanes, and Woodrow R. Drennen of Alum Creek; daughters, Debra (David A.) Raines of Charleston, Freeda Mae Drennen and Dennis, of South Charleston, and Mary Macel Drennen of Charleston; brothers, Claude, Charles, Delbert and Eugene Bowles; sisters, Josephine Lucas, Emma Pierson, and Brenda Butcher; five grandchildren, Christopher D. (Carrie) Raines, Kari Beth Drennen, Daniel S. Drennen, Taylor Sherri Drennen, and Tyler Thomas Drennen; and two great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Grace Raines, and Olivia Drennen.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with the Rev. Okey Harless officiating. The burial will follow the service in Floral Hills Gardens of Memories, Sissonville. Her family and friends will gather for the visitation on Monday, December 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
