Gene D. Gilbert, 62, 206 Wharton Drive, Marion, died Monday in Marion General Hospital. Mr. Gilbert was born in Wells County and lived in Marion since 1951.


He was employed as a millwright for 38 years at Dana Corp. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Allied Industrial Workers of America, Local 113, where he was president for a record-breaking 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 10 and an executive board member of the United Way.


His is survived by his wife, Janet; two daughters, Emilie and Susan, both of Marion; his father, Delmer, Wells County; two sisters, Betty Collins and Carol Stanley, both of Marion; and a brother, Larry, Wells County.


Services were held Wednesday in Raven Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, with Revs. Leo Haigerty and Peter Vanderkolk officiating. Burial was made in Grant Memorial Park cemetery, Marion.
