Junior Anders

Alfred James "Junior" Anders, 75, of Dills Branch Road, Sylva, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at Haywood Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, Nov. 3) in the chapel of Melton-Riddle Funeral Home with the Revs. Ricky Conner and Gerald Conner officiating. The family was scheduled to receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Parris Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Scott, Tony Scott, Daniel Scott, Jamie Scott, Charlie Conner, Jerry Scott and Carroll Bradley.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ben Conner.

A native of Transylvania County, he had lived in Jackson County for the last 34 years. He retired from Suburban Propane as a service technician. He was a son of the late Capp and Rose Owen Anders.

He was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen Peavey of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Carolyn Redburn and Angela Conner, both of Sylva; two sons, Larry Anders of Merritt Island, Fla., and Gary Anders of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Exie Whitmire of Brevard, Ada Andrews of Maryland and Ella Mae Searcy of Canton; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
