Boatbuilder. Arrived in Wellington on the 'Catherine Stuart Forbes' 1841. Just along the beach from his yard at 57 Thorndon Quay, he built a brick and timber house, 'Lasswade' for his family. Husband of Jane Elizabeth (nee Paule; 1812?-1888). First daughter, Mary Ann (1841-1920, married William Seed), last daughter Emma Allen (later Emma Chisholm) born 1855. Other daughters Eliza Hudson Allen (1849?-1928) and Caroline Ann Allen (1852-1951

"They were among Wellingtons earliest settlers, arriving in 1841." Eliza Hudson ALLEN, dau of above, died 12 February 1928, aged 79, and Caroline Ann ALLEN, also dau of above, 1852-1951.
