BROWNS SUMMIT JOHN ANDREW RUMLEY, SR., 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at his home. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church, 1100 E. Cornwallis Drive, Greensboro. John was born January 4, 1934 in Greensboro to Paul and Mary Rumley. He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy before starting his own business, John Rumley Service Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, brothers Horace Rumley and wife Joanie, Morris Rumley and wife Alice. He is survived by his brother Dewey Rumley, loving sister-in-law Grace Anderson and husband, Ted, six sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The children are John Rumley, Jr. and wife Brenda, James Rumley and wife Cindy, Paul Rumley, Mark Rumley and wife Debbie, David Coble, Daisy Adams, Allen Coble, and Lynn Sowder and husband Bill. The grandchildren are Jennifer Fogleman and husband Jason, Andrew Rumley and girlfriend Jessica Finney, Bryan Rumley and wife Sheena, Maggie Rumley, Betsy Rumley, Emoline Adams, Will Rumley, Joshua Adams and Jamie Stout. The great-grandchildren are Noah Rumley, Joey Fogleman, Jamey Fogleman, and AJ Rumley. John was a 33rd Degree Mason of Tabasco Lodge #271. He was a member of Greensboro, Chapter 14 Order of the Eastern Star and Past Worthy Grand Patron of the State of North Carolina.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405 or an organization of your choice.
