On 26 November 1946, Edmund married Elizabeth Emily Imdieke in Spokane, WA; he was 46, she was 39. Elizabeth was the sixth of nine children (three daughters & six sons) born to Bernard & Mary A. (Vorgert) Imdieke.
Edmund died on 27 April 1952 at Saint Michael Hospital in Sauk Centre, MN at the age of 52; cause of death was bladder cancer.

EDMUND ROONEY
Edmund Rooney, 52 year old Raymond township farmer and life long resident of the Padua community, died Sunday morning at St. Michael's hospital in Sauk Centre after an illness of five months.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Imdieke Rooney and three sons: Michael, James and Roger, all at home. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Helen Rooney of Padua, and 11 brothers and sisters: Joseph Rooney of Pasco, Washington; Felix, Leonard and Mrs. Andrew Majerus (Marvel) of Portland, Oregon; Walter, Leo, Robert and Howard of Brooten; Mrs. John Ahles (Mary) of St. Cloud; Mrs. John Steinhoff (Agnes) of Belgrade; Emmet Rooney of Winthrop.
Funeral mass will be read in Padua Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. by Rev. Vincent Fettgather. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Corrigan Funeral home in Sauk Centre after 7:30 p.m. tonight. The body will be taken to Mr. Rooney's mother's home in Padua Tuesday afternoon to remain until Wednesday morning.

Edmund Rooney was born March 4, 1900 in Raymond Township to William and Helena (Riedel) Rooney. Edmund grew up on the farm and then went into a life of farming.
Elizabeth (Lizzy) Imdieke was born July 6, 1907 in Raymond Township to Ben and Mary Imdieke. She taught in rural schools in Stearns County for many years. During World War II, Lizzy did office work for the navy in Spokane, WA.
Edmund married Elizabeth on November 26, 1946. They lived on the farm adjacent to the William Rooney farm. Edmund and Lizzy had three children - Michael, James, and Roger.
After the death of Edmund, the family stayed on the farm and rented out the land until Mike was old enough to farm it. Lizzy is presently living in an apartment in Sauk Centre.
Edmund died of cancer on April 27, 1952. His parents, brothers Leo and Howard, grandparents John and Mary Rooney, and many other relatives are buried in Padua.
