John Donald MacGregor son to John Charles and Lella May MacGregor. He had a sister Mabel Virginia macGregor Johnston. He was married to Christine C. MacGregor. He is buried near his aunt Florence MacGregor Woods and uncle John Horace Woods. His Grandfather was John Charles MacGregor. All of whom are buried at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, including his great grandfather John George MacGregor. He lived in Alvin, Texas.

JD was active in Boy Scouting for over 70 years and held many awards, including Scouting's Silver Beaver Award. He was a longtime resident of Alvin and a parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a charter member and former Grand Knight of the Alvin-Manvel Knights of Columbus Council #6403. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, JC MacGregor and Lella MacGregor; sister, Virginia Peters; and wife, Christine MacGregor. JD is survived by his three sons: Donald MacGregor, Charles MacGregor, and Dr. Mark MacGregor: daughter, Paula Bowman FNP; niece Anne Smith; and grandchildren: Sean MacGregor, Mary MacGregor, Lt. John MacGregor, Theresa MacGregor, Catherine MacGregor, Michael MacGregor, James MacGregor, Matthew MacGregor, Carl Bowman and Paul Bowman. JD has mentored countless numbers of Boy Scouts over the years and proudly admitted to canoeing hundreds of miles over every river in the state of Texas. His funeral was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 2 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin, Texas
