Orville Rhoads Davis, 84, of Lufkin, Texas, and formerly of Chatsworth, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Davis was born March 3, 1930, in Miami, Fla., to Nettie Elizabeth (Bishop) and John Neely Davis.
He retired from the Georgia Department of Labor as a safety engineer. He was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include his companion, Mary Nell Calfee of Lufkin, Texas; her children, Jill Navarro and husband Armando of Lufkin, Texas, and Gloria Freeman of Chatsworth; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his children, Elaine Davis Watt and husband Kelby of Ocala, Fla., and Orville R. Davis III of New York; grandchildren, Kayla Davis Onufer, Cynthia Davis Satterwhite, Jason Dakota Davis and Meredith Sabra Davis; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Shirley Davis Longobardo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Neely Davis.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin, Texas, with the Rev. David Hunt and the Rev. Jesse Hart officiating.
