Mary Evelyn Collier, 82, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 1:50 p.m., Monday, October 26th, while in the company of family members, at McPherson Hospital.

Mary was born in Marceline, Missouri on December 20, 1932, a daughter of Evelyn Lorraine (McGregor) and George Edward Fisher.

Mary attended the Lansing grade schools, Lansing, Kansas and graduated from Leavenworth High School, Leavenworth, Kansas. She then attended Medical Secretary Training at the Wadsworth V.A. Hospital, Wadsworth, Kansas which later became the Eisenhower V.A. Medical Center, Leavenworth, Kansas.

Mary was a member of First Christian Church McPherson, Kansas.

Mary was a homemaker and worked as a Medical Secretary at the National Navel Medical Center, was an office assistant for Frank Anker M.D. in Oakland, devoted wife supporting her husband’s career and chauffeuring him to out of town surgeries, and was a loving mother to many children in addition to her own.

Mary was a cofounder of numerous Clubs in McPherson and a member of the Chapter HI of P.E.O., Domestic Art Club; honorary member of the Progressive Literature Club, and a member of Beta Omicron Sorority and served as a board member for the McPherson Public Library. She volunteered her time with the American Red Cross, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Election Board, Y.M.C.A. Handicap Swimming, and taught Bridge to many.

Mary Evelyn Fisher was united in marriage to William Jewell Collier on March 29, 1952 at Leavenworth, Kansas. Bill died on October 16, 2013.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Charles A. and Eldon Leroy Fisher; and her husband of 62 years, William J. “Bill” Collier.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, October 30., 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.

Memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31st, 2015 with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.

Private family graveside services will be held at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.

Family request donations to First Christian Church or McPherson Public Library, both of McPherson in memory of Mary and they can be sent in care of Glidden – Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
