Elnora Harding Lakes 90 of Richmond went to be with the Lord Monday October 26, 2015 at Golden Living Center, Golden Rule. She was born December 1, 1924 in Disputanta, Kentucky to Bert A. and Luvena Ballinger Harding and moved to Richmond with her sister in 1943.
Elnora retired from PRC Recording Company and worked for Richmond State hospital. She was a farm wife, an avid fisherwoman, loved gardening, and entertaining family and friends by great cooking. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Homer, formerly of Sand Gap, Kentucky, who she married in 1946, one daughter Carolyn (Dennis) Lakes Thewlies of Rotonda West, Florida, two grandchildren Dennis Thewlies Jr. of Oakwood, Ohio and Jonna A (Mike) McMahon of Zionsville, her grandson-in-law Jason Tippetts of Colorado Springs, Colorado, nine great grandchildren Dennis Thewlies III, Reese Thewlies, Madison McMahon, Morgan McMahon, Caitlin McMahon, Ella Tippetts, Harper Tippetts, Lake Tippetts, and Story Tippetts, four sisters Argalee Phenis, Roberta (James) Johnson, Wanda Herron, and Beuana Adams, one brother Lloyd (Edie) Adams, nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a score of loving friends. She will be missed and always in our loving hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Kara L. Thewlies Tippetts, step father Jop Adams, sisters Dorothy Donanberg, Helen Meece and Ethel Bullock, and one brother Landis Harding.
Elnora was the meaning of unconditional love. She served and taught with a happy heart. Her grandchildren always looked forward to spending a week with Grandma and Grandpa. Her grace touched many, as she met no stranger. She will be missed.
Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. October 31, 2015 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Johnson officiating. Private burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery.
