Caroline was the 5th child of 6 born to parents "Jacob" & Margaretha Hailer. She was born in the village of Berlin (Kitchener) in Waterloo County in the year 1843.

On Oct. 07, 1862 she married William H. Goetze in Waterloo County. She was 19 years old. Marriage Microfilm #1030066.

They had 4 children born to them.
1. Emilie Goetze 1862-1866. born in New York City.
2. Emma L. Goetze 1865-1943. born in New Jersey.
3. M. Caroline Goetze 1867-1924. born in New Jersey.
4. Oscar Henry Goetze 1869-1930. born in New Jersey.

The family was living in the United States in the 1860's.
William was a Tobbacco Dealer and travelled a lot.

After William was killed at sea in 1871, Caroline & the children moved back to Canada to her home town.

1871 census of Berlin Town. 27 years old.
1881 census of Berlin Town. 36 years old.

She then got married again at the age of 40 years to a John E. Brehler (1836-1929). They were married in Mount Clemens, Michigan on April 17, 1884.

1900 U.S. census of Mount Clemens, Mich. 55 years old.
1920 U.S. census of Mount Clemens, Mich. 76 years old.

Caroline died in Mount Clemens, Michigan at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 23 days.

Her remains were shipped to Kitchener to be buried in the family plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.
