Chris was born on June 4, 1971, in El Paso, Texas. As part of a military family, he lived in Japan and Germany. In high school, he enjoyed football and anything with computers. His senior year, he was diagnosed with and treated for a brain tumor at Johns Hopkins. He went on to graduate from Belair High School in Belair, Maryland and attended Maryland Rehab Education Center where he was trained as a CAD Draftsman. He moved to Jasper in the early 90’s, where he worked in the retail sector. He was currently employed at Lowes Home Improvement in Jasper as a cashier and in the garden center. He attended Holly Springs Baptist Church. Chris was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, he loved to read, play video games, and watch action movies. He loved animals, especially his dogs, spending time with friends, family and playing with his nephew Jacob.
Chris was a ray of sunshine to everyone he met. He never met a stranger, he was the epitome of the Golden Rule Matthew 7:12, “…Do to others as you would have them do to you…”, and would do anything he could to help a friend in need.
He is survived by his Grandfather Ret. Col. Ray Lee of Arlington; parents Anita Lee of Jasper and Brian & Ellie Lee of Foley, Alabama; brother Marc Hammerbacher of Kingsville, Maryland; sister Diane Bates and husband Jack of Spring, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
