KATE KOGER, age 96, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point, IN. She was born on December 29, 1918, in Estill Fork, AL to the late John Ora and Lucy (nee Henshaw) Miller.

Kate was retired from Allis Chalmers Mfg. Co. in Harvey, IL where she had been employed for 30 years. She was particularly proud of her work years during World War II when she and other females joined the war effort, and were affectionately referred to by millions as “Rosie the Riveter”.

Kate is survived by one daughter, Brenda Willis of Cedar Lake, IN and one step-daughter, Brenda (Harold) Layne of Decherd, TN; six grandchildren, Mark and Todd Willis, James Brown, Troy, Russell and Travis Layne, eleven great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Arvell Koger, her two brothers, Olbert Miller and John T. Miller, her daughter, Darlene (nee Koger) Brown, and her two granddaughters, Diana (nee Brown) Elliott and Stacie (nee Brown) Clark.

Visitation for Kate will be Monday, November 2, 2015 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel. Interment will follow at Moore Memorial Cemetery in Huntland.
