Just before dark last Wednesday evening, Mr. R.C. Clark, an old and prominent citizen of this county, met a violent and shocking death. Mr. Clark had been in Novato, driving a span of horses, and having his little son, about 6 years of age, with him. As he neared home, and after comimg in sight of the house, some crockery he had purchased rattled and frightened the team, which became unmanageable and ran, and as a short bend in teh road, Mr. Clark and the little boy were thrown off, and they both appear to have struck on their heads. Mr. Clark was fatally injured and at 10 o'clock Thursday morning his spirit passed away. The little boy sustained serious injuiry, his head being fractured in 2 places, and his face disfigured, and some apprehension is felt for his life. Mr. Cark was one of our pioneer residents, and a gentleman who has been frequently onored with ersponsible public position in the county. He was at one time Associate Justice of the court of Sessions, and was a Justice of the Peace at the time of his dath. He leaves a large family, beside a wide circle of friends to mourn his los.
