Her name is most often spelled Catherine but is Kathryn on her death certificate. Sister of my great grandma Susan, she was favorably remembered as "Kate".
On the 1900 census, the family lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with children Edward 13, Robert 11, Charles 8, and Paul 3. Kathryn reports having had five children, four of whom are alive. Husband Charles is a barber.
For 1910, still in Harrisburg, the children are Edward 22, Robert C 21, Charles 19, Luke 9, Clement 5 and Ephraim 3. There's no sign of Paul who would have been just 13. Kate's husband is still a barber.
By the 1920 census, the family has moved to Reading, Pennsylvania, and Kate's husband Charles is now a laborer in a silk mill. The children at home are Robert J 31, Charles H 28, Paul M 22, Clement M 15, and Ethan D 12. Edward and Luke are gone, and there's a discrepancy on Ethan/Ephraim's name.
I had trouble finding the couple or family on the 1930 census, in part because they were not together. Finally I found Kate's husband Charles in Reading living with their son Clement (a painter) and Clement's wife. Charles is 74 and working as a watchman at a silk mill. Kate isn't findable and I've looked at every lady with her name in PA born within 10 years of her, and using her kids to find her isn't working either.
At her death five years later, she was still married, and it seems she and her husband had the same address again. She passed at home of influenza and an inflamed throat.
