Edith Louise "Edie" Geiger
Tuesday, July 11th, 1939 – Saturday, December 26th,

Edith Geiger, 81, passed into her eternal home on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Edie, as she was well known as, was born on July 11, 1939, to Joseph and Mary Frances Cummings. She was later adopted by her parents, Johnie and Amanda Forbes.

Proceeding her in death are her parents, brothers Tommy Cummings and Walter Forbes, husband Frank, and son Chuck.

She is survived by her brother Gene Cummings and his wife Kay, her stepsister Dorthy Scoggins, her sister in law Delores Forbes, her daughter Terri Carnley and her husband Alvin, and her son John Geiger and his wife Shannon. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Amanda Carnley deGraaf and her husband Tony, Courtney Geiger, Ashton Geiger, and Jay Carnley. She has two great grandsons: Hunter & Jayden deGraaf. She also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, as well as many people whom she called dear friends.

Edie graduated from Columbia High School in Columbia, MS in 1957. She was always so proud to be a part of her graduating class and would often attend reunions when she was able. She kept in touch with many of her former classmates and friends over the years and loved to reminisce with them of times gone by.

After marrying Frank, Edie spent her life as a Navy Wife before settling with Frank in Milton, FL. She worked throughout the Southeast for various title companies pulling books and securing leases. She took pride in her assignments, and thoroughly enjoyed the research that came with the job.

Her interest in genealogy paired with her job. She has spent many, many hours researching her family and families of friends and strangers. It brought her joy to bring family connections to others. She would often have many stories to bring to the families, as well.

To know Edie was to know her sense of humor and love for telling stories and for Dr. Pepper. She enjoyed cracking jokes with people and sharing experiences of her lifetime.

Edie was a member of Hickory Hammock Baptist Church.

Visitation will be December 30 at 5:00 pm with a service to follow at 6:00 pm. Services are entrusted to Trahan Family Funeral Home in Milton, FL.
