Former lifetime resident of Kaskaskia Island, IL died October 26, 2015 at his residence in Perryville, MO.
He was born October 4, 1924 in Kaskaskia Island, IL, son of Sylvester “Vess” James and Isabel (Johnson) Brown. He and Dorothy A. Nations were married on October 4, 1951 for 64 years. She survives in Perryville, MO.
He worked many years at Tire Recap Shop at Firestone Tire Co. in Red Bud, IL. He then owned and operated Brown’s Service Station in St. Mary, MO. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Perryville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and doing things with his family.
Other survivors include one son, Dwight (Donna) Brown of St. Mary; one sister, Ruby Eddleman; two grandchildren, Amy (Josh) Yamnitz, Jared (April) Brown; one great-grandson, Caleb Yamnitz; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeffery; three brothers, Kirby Brown, James “Tom” Brown, Norman “Bud” Brown; and four sisters, Maggie Adams, Ruth Adams, Sylvia Lankford, and Esther Brown.
