Karen had lived in the area for the past 20 years, coming from Royal Oak, MI, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She worked as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor and also Pontiac, had been a Girl Scout Leader, and volunteered at Faith In Action. She loved spending time with her family and going on family vacations that included rock climbing, white water rafting, horseback riding, exploring caves, and backpacking.
On September 22, 1979, she married Douglas Barry Edgar at Shrine Church in Royal Oak and he survives. Also surviving are two children, Megan (Jake) St. George of Royal Oak and Bradley Edgar (Caitlin Wolf) of Howell; her brother, Keith (Terri) Lyon of Rochester Hills; her cousin, Pam Shults; her aunt, Sandra (Leo) Petit; two brothers-in-law, Scott (Cathy) Edgar of Muskegon and Vance (Laurie) Edgar of Clarkston; and five nieces: Natalie Lyon, Erin Ricco, Lindsay Brown, Katie Edgar, and Bonnie Mazzei, and one nephew: Ben Edgar.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mass was held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea, with Rev. Dr. William J. Turner officiating. A Vigil and Rosary Service was held. Interment was at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, MI.
