Mrs. Simmons was a licensed funeral director for 40 years. Along with her husband, Brian, they operated funeral homes in Ava and Forsyth. Since 1987 they operated Springfield Mortuary Service. She remained active in the business until ill health forced her retirement four years ago.
Surviving, besides her husband of 43 years, are two daughters: Rhonda Ketchum and her husband Nathan, and Jennifer Simmons Bodenhamer; three grandchildren: Justin Ketchum, Miranda Ketchum and Helen-Ashley Bodenhamer; one great-granddaughter, Paytyn Burgess; and her child in a fur coat, Peaches Marie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Judy Ernest and Janet Clark.
