According to the Caledonia Argus. Pub Date March 14, 1919, Sheldon Siftings, "A very sad death occurred here when Monday, March 10th, Mrs. John Hanson, formerly Miss Dena Swenson died of pneumonia. Mrs. Hanson had been in poor health the past two years but up till last week when she took sick with the influenza had seemed hopeful and cheerful. Mrs. Hanson had crowded into her short life acts and deeds of loving kindness that will not be forgotten by her loved ones and friends. She took great interest in church and Sunday school work. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband and two young daughters, Fern and Mildred, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Swenson, three sisters and four brothers. May God in heaven who does all things for the best, comfort the sorrowing ones especially the dear little girls left without a mother's care."
