Mrs. West was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Cecil West.
Hazel was Methodist by faith, a gardener and an avid reader. She was also a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and everything WVU.
Hazel is survived by her son, Gary V. West and his companion Kathy Ross of Fairmont; her daughter, Gloria J. Phillips and her husband Clarence L. “Chip” Phillips of Fairmont; two sisters, Emma Mae West and Willa Radford; six grandchildren, John West and his wife Mandy, Chelsea Mills and her husband Matt, Jodi Sammons and her husband Mike, Ashley Schmidt and her husband Ryan, Michael T. Ross, and Rebecca Ann Ross; seven great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. West was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Pigott; her brother, Junior Drake; and two sisters, Gertrude Vandergrift and Betty Squires.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Gary Steele officiating. A committal service will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
