Evelyn was born Dec. 18, 1916, in Westerville, Ohio, the daughter of Evelyne and Thomas Tussey. Evelyn graduated high school in Westerville, Ohio, and attended Otterbein University in Westerville for two years, earning a teaching certificate. Evelyn worked in the library in Westerville and later in life was employed in retail in Oakbrook, Illinois, as well as participated in volunteer work at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Evelyn’s primary vocation, however, was as a homemaker and mother. Evelyn loved to travel and visited many countries. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bowling, and being with her children, their families, and her beloved cats, most recently Gigi.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two half-sisters; her husband of 59 years, Keith, father to her four children, and her second husband, Rick Heine.
Survivors include four children: Linda Snider of Keene, New Hampshire; Dennis (Claudia) Hoover of Bernardsville, New Jersey; Deborah (Chuck) Bonner of East Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Diana Hoover of Savanna, Illinois. Evelyn will be missed by her children and five grandchildren: Sheryl (Bruce) Hamill of Keene New Hampshire; Lori (Scott) Gisetto of Reading, Massachusetts; Brian (Stacy) Snider of Madison, New Jersey; Chelsea (Caitlin) Bonner of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Dylan Bonner of Grand Rapids, Michigan, as well as six great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois, and to Mercy Home Care & Hospice, Clinton, Iowa.
Evelyn’s ashes will be interred at Otterbein Cemetery, Westerville, Ohio, at a memorial service in Spring, 2016.
