From the LaFollette Press, Thursday, March 9, 1972:

Mrs. Patricia Louise (Pat) McCulley, 25, of Jacksboro, died Monday morning at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

Mrs. McCulley contracted chronic nephritis and had been undergoing treatment for the kidney disease since early this year.

She had only one percent use of her kidneys.

Her husband, David, had taken a leave of absence from his job at the Braden McCulley Gulf Station to be with his wife, and to learn to operate the kidney machine which she had to use twice a week.

A Pat McCulley Fund had been started by LaFollette radio station WLAF to help the couple defray the tremendous hospital expenses incurred. "About $11,500.00 was put in the First State Bank of Jacksboro through us and other people", said WLAF manager Elmer Longmire. "It's untelling how many people gave--hundreds and hundreds. They gave from every walk of life--churches, civic groups and just people off the street. People really responded to that", he said.

Mrs. McCulley was a member of Jacksboro First Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband David, she is survived by her daughter Lisa, who is five; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Denton Rector of Jacksboro; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Foster of Lake City and Henry Burrell of Caryville; her half-sister, Mrs. Christine Lipp of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Bobby and Don Burrell, both of Jacksboro.

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at Jacksboro First Baptist Church by the Rev. C. H. Robinson. Martin's Funeral Home, LaFollette, was in charge of arrangements.
