ANDROMAHI "MAGGIE" SALTAS KASTANIS

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Andromahi (Maggie) Saltas Kastanis, age 88, passed away October 19, 1991 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born July 30, 1903 in Megara, Greece to George and Evanthia Pappasidiris Saltas. Married Isideros "Sam" Kastanis July 15, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He preceded her in death. She immigrated from Greece to American as a young girl, and met her husband, who was from the same village in Greece, and married him July 15, 1928. Maggie was the Matriarch and main supporter for all her family members. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church serving in many capacities. She was a Gold Star Mother. A resident of Bingham and West Jordan most of her life.The family wishes to thank her many neighbors and friends for all their kindness and loving support.

Survived by three sons, Jim and Lucille Kastanis; Dean and Peggy Kastanis; Terry and Penny Kastanis; one sister, Mary S. and John Mannos; two brothers, Pete G. and Stella Saltas, Thomas G. Saltas; one sister-in-law, Sophie M. Saltas; one brother-in-law, James N. Malkogiannis; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews who loved her, and cousins in Greece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Isideros (Sam) Kastanis; son, George Kastanis; daughter-in-law, Maria Dokos Kastanis; brothers, Spero, Paul, and Alex Saltas; sister, Evangelia "Vig" Malkogiannis; sister-in-law, and Mabel Saltas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 1991, 12:00 noon, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300 West. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m., at MacKay Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, with Trisagion Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Funeral directors, MacKay Deseret Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Helenic Cultural Association, in her memory, to preserve the culture and heritage that she loved, C/O, Holy Trinity Cathedral, 279 South 300 West SLC, Utah.
