Christopher Shane “Chris” Dawson departed this life on October 24, 2015, from injuries he received in an automobile accident in Van Buren, Missouri. He had attained the age of forty –one years, ten months and three days. Chris was a lifetime resident of Van Buren, and a 1992 graduate of the Van Buren High School. He was employed by Carters Wood Stuff as head sawyer. Chris was a member of the Mount Zion Pentecostal Church in Ellsinore, Missouri, where he served on the church Board of Directors, and as Deacon, and he also preached and sang. When Chris gave his life over to Christ his greatest love and desire was to serve God. Chris loved nature and spending time on Current River, camping, fishing, and gigging. He also loved the mountains and every year he went out west to Colorado or Wyoming camping, sightseeing and just enjoying Gods creation and the peace of mind he received from being close to it. Survivors include his parents, John and Jeanette Dawson of Van Buren; one brother, Jonathan Dawson of Van Buren; many nieces, nephews, a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins and other relatives and friends who mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wade Dawson, on September 8, 1989, and his companion, Pricilla Weaver, who was a passenger in the same automobile accident that took Chris's life.

A visitation for the public will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Darrel Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Houses Creek Cemetery.
