He worked in housekeeping at University Hospital.
John married Ruth V. Perkins on June 1, 1965, in Boonville, and she preceded him in death.
He was a member of Little Bonne Femme Baptist Church.
Survivors include stepson Charles Zumwalt of Davenport, Iowa; step-daughter Aloma Loretta Hayes of Joplin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four nephews, Richard, John and Steven Wainscott and Gary Bridgewater; and one niece, Linda Wainscott.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Edith Miller and Helen Wainscott.
