Mr. Leslie “Les” Marion Boone, age 72, of Starke passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 in Gainesville. He was born in Cairns, Australia on October 18, 1943 to the late Marion and Audrey (Luttrell) Boone and had proudly served four years in the United States Navy. Mr. Boone has been a long time resident of the Starke area. He retired as a diesel mechanic teacher for the Vo-Tech and also was a service manager at True Value for several years. He was an active member of Madison Street Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, golfing and watching all sports on the television. Mr. Boone is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Shirley (Bowden) and their three sons, Robbie Boone of Tennessee, Robert Boone (Kelly) of Middleburg and Kevin Boone (Brandy) of Starke; two sisters, Liz Clarke (Rodger) of Indiana and Roxanne Neal (Wayne) of Arkansas. Also left behind is his sister in law, Mary Dickson of Orange Park; four grandchildren, Alex, Nicholas, Christopher, and Jackson along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 4 – 6p.m. at Madison Street Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Justin Kirksey officiating. There will be a private interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either Madison Street Building Fund, 900 W. Madison Street, Starke, FL 32091 or Alzheimer’s and Dementia Foundation of Central and North Florida, 2180 W. SR 434, Suite 1100, Longwood, FL 32779.
