Mr. Conley was born on March 14, 1924 in Ithaca, New York to the late Edward F. Conley and Susan Bride Conley. He was employed by the NYS Parks Department for 39 years, first as a superintendent at Fillmore Glen State Park in Moravia, then taking the role at Seneca Lake in 1970. He retired from there in 1989, moving to Asheville, NC.
He was a WWII combat veteran, serving in the Pacific Campaign as a P- 47 pilot with the 464th Fighter Squadron. He was a member of the American Legion Post #396. He spent his retirement years enjoying traveling with his wife and family. Patrick was an active member of St. Margaret Mary's Church in Swannanoa, NC.
In addition to his parents, Patrick is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Catherine "Kitty" Conley; his son Edward P. Conley and a brother, Paul Conley.
Surviving Patrick are his daughters, Theresa (Tony) Vatter of Waterloo, NY and Barbara (Larry) Jandrew of Arden, NC; a son, Brian (Karen) Conley of Scituate, MA; a daughter-in-law, Donna (Edward) Conley of Macungie, PA; two sisters, Mary Kay Hammond of Dansville, NY and Mary Elizabeth Keating of Rochester, NY; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at St. Margaret Mary's Church, in Swannanoa, NC. Burial will follow the service at 2:00 PM at the Western North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
