Cynthia T. Surdel Pope, 61, wife of Brian M. Pope of North Haven passed away suddenly May 26, 2013 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Mother of Jeffrey D. Bowers of Enfield and Carrie-Lee (Jay) Thibodeau of Windham. Daughter of Edmund (Terese) Surdel of Vernon and Helen Roberts Hann of Newington. Sister of Sandy Hann of West Virginia, Sharon Hann-Kolodney of Bonita Springs, FL, Keith (Lisa) Hann of Rocky Hill, Paul (Debbie) Surdel of Manchester, Gregory Surdel of West Hartford, Douglas (Melissa) Surdel of Texas. Sister-in-law of Debbie Surdel of Hebron. Also survived by three nephews, four nieces, her Yorkie Lattee and her cat K-Lee. At the time of her death Cindy was Bakery Manager for Stop & Shop in Hamden for 29 years. Cindy's heart was so big not only for the love of her husband, children and family it went beyond to all animals of all kinds and even human beings. Her blue eyes and vivacious smile always light up a room.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Saturday morning at 10:15. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church, North Haven at 11. Interment will be private. Friends may call SATURDAY MORNING from 8:15-10:15. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Defenders of Wildlife, 1130 17th St. NW, Washington, DC 20036 or at www.defenders.org.
