FRANCIS EUGENE THORNE

Francis Eugene Thorne was born in Brighton, Iowa, June 18, 1855 and died at his home just north of Ord, Nebraska, November 15, 1918 aged 63 years, 4 months and 27 days. The result of his death was a complication of troubles following a severe attack of the flu.
Iowa was the home of the deceased until he grew to manhood when he moved to Nebraska, settling at Grand Island where he was married to Miss Laura Clement in 1885. Seven children were born to them and all of them with the mother survive. The children are Ernest of British Columbia, Mrs. Myrtle Trefren of Wyoming, Thomas with the colors in a California training camp, and Mrs. Freda Philbrick, and Mrs. Helen Keep of Ord and Lucinda and Lawrence still at home.
The family moved to Ord in 1900 and this and the surrounding country has been their home since. Since quitting the farm he has engaged in various enterprises in town. For the past couple of years he has been farming and raising stock close to town.
The funeral was held from the home Monday afternoon and was in charge of the Odd Fellows of which order the deceased was an honored member. Rev. Hosman of the M. E. Church also assisted with the funeral. The family are deeply grateful for the kindness shown them by their friends and neighbors during the illness and after the death of their loved one.
