HUNTER LEE SMITH Hunter Lee Smith, 67, of Wilmington, passed away at Lower Cape Fear Hospice on Saturday, October 24, 2015 with his family by his side. Hunter was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his sister Dell. He is survived by three children, Norman Lee Smith, Susan Smith West, Charles Tournoux Smith (Kelly), and his sister Lynn Gurganious (Larry). He is also survived by two grandchildren, Krystal West Gutierrez (Alex) and TJ West (Lauren), and two great grandchildren, Nila and Peyton, several nieces and nephews, and his cousins Ricky and Maxine. Hunter will be remembered for his love for fishing, Nascar, and college football, but most of all everyone will remember him by his favorite greeting to them, "hee-haw". A special thanks to his friends that were able to visit him these last few days, whether by phone or in person, he was so grateful that he got one last chance to talk to you, as we all got to witness that one last smile. We would like to also thank the staff of Northchase Nursing Home and also the Staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice-the kindness you showed and the care you gave to our Dad will be forever be in our hearts. A celebration of Hunter's life will be at sunrise on Sunday, November 8 at the south end of Wrightsville Beach (near the jetty). In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Heehaw, Papou, Huntbean, Hunter-you gave it a good fight, now you can rest in peace.
