U. S. Markham Died at His Home Friday

Funeral Held Saturday at 2 p.m.

Caddo lost a splendid useful citizen last Friday afternoon when U. S. Markham breathed his last.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon by Rev. Reed, the pastor, assisted by Rev. A. S. Eggner. Burial in Caddo Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Jess Maytubby, W. L. Guthrie, G. A. Crossett, Carl Petty, Fred Washington, and Lake Brewer.

U. S. Markham had been since boyhood a member of the Methodist Church, faithful to it through the years of his life. He was its Sunday school superintendent for many years. He served 17 years as postmaster of Caddo and entered the variety store business in 1934 after retiring as postmaster. He lived 76 useful years. Markham was a man of convictions not veered by varying winds that blew; he was always found on the right side of moral questions and was favorable to all things that tended toward betterment of the world he lived in.
He is survived by one son, Talmage, of Houston and a daughter Nophlet, and his wife of Caddo.
