Shirley Jean Hullet McCollum, 71, of Berea, died Tuesday morning, October 20, 2015 at her residence following an illness. She was a Lancaster, Kentucky native born February 15, 1944, daughter of the late Samuel Hullet and Martha Howard Hopkins, and had been a resident of the Berea area all her life. Shirley was a homemaker and life-long member of Crestview Holy Sanctuary.
Survivors include 4 children, Yul (Wanda) McCollum, Roy (Haroldlena) McCollum, Nancy (Gene) Collins, Sheila (Dale) Johnson; 9 grandchildren, Carisa, Jesse, Ray, Alasha, Zachary, Catrina, Stephanie, Pepper, Jeremy; 4 great-grandchildren, Gracie, Nick, Kirsten and Kenneth; as well as numerous relatives, friends and church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon McCollum and 1 son, Avery McCollum.
Funeral Service 11:00am Monday, October 26, 2015 at Crestview Holy Sanctuary with Pastor Harold Eads officiating. Burial will follow in Akers Cemetery in Garrard County. Visitation 6:00pm Sunday at the church. Pallbearers will be Jesse McCollum, Jeremy Johnson, Timothy Collins, Zachary McCollum, Dale Johnson, Kenny Richmond, Robin White, Valorie McFerron. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Pepper Johnson, Stephanie Collins, Lindsay McCollum, Alasha McCollum, Katrina McCollum.
