Myrtle Minnie Henderson is the daughter of Samuel McNeal Henderson and Lavenia Antonia (Toni) Futrell. Her parents had twelve children (two sets of twins) and adopted the thirteenth child. She was the tenth.

She married Maurice Franklin (Morris) Scott Sr on 26 June 1907 in Saline County, Arkansas. They worked hard as a young couple in Benton, Arkansas, he at the Bank of Benton and she in her own millinery store. They had five children:

Antonia Demaris Scott Collins 1908–1971
Maurice Franklin (Buddy)Scott Jr 1910–1912
Dorothy May Scott Wilson 1912–2009
Winston Louise Scott Schilling 1913–1999
Sarah Gene Scott Marshall 1916–2007

The original Scott home in Benton, Arkansas is now an historical monument in Benton. The second Scott home houses THE BENTON COURIER (newspaper) as of 1985.

In 1925, the Scott family, including Maurice's father. Samuel Thompson Scott, moved to Miami, Florida. Samuel died in 1930 in Miami, Florida. Hard work and a growing family continued, although work never interfered with church attendance and activities.

Myrtle worked at Burdine's Department Store for 30 years, retiring at age 70. She took the bus to and from work, because she never drove a day in her life.

The Scott home was located at 1523 N.W. 8th Terrace, Miami, Florida, two blocks from the Orange Bowl.

Every Sunday, the whole family (her girls with their husbands and children), would go to their house for Sunday dinner. Wonderful memories were made for the family members at these dinners.

Both Myrtle and Maurice attended the First United Methodist Church in downtown Miami.

Myrtle, died at the age of 96 on February 8, 1974 in Miami, Miami-Dade, Florida. She was living with her youngest daughter, Sarah Gene Scott Marshall.

She was fondly called Mamoo by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As of today, August 11, 2019, she has the following descendents:
